Cucumber is one of the popular crops grown all over the world, It is a leafy vegetable characterized by its sweet taste and many health benefits. Cucumbers can be grown in various types of soil, however, it is preferable to grow it in light sandy or heavy clay soil, which have good drainage and ventilation.
\nSuitable Climate<\/strong>
\nCucumber is a heat-sensitive plant, It is preferred to be grown in areas with a moderate, warm climate. The optimum temperature for cucumber growth ranges between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius, The plant dies if it is exposed to frost.
\nFarming Methods:<\/strong>
\nCucumbers can be grown in two main ways:<\/p>\n

Cultivation in open ground: Cucumber seeds are planted directly in the ground in holes spaced about 50 cm apart from each other.
\nAgriculture in greenhouses: Cucumber seeds are planted in seedling trays, Then transfer the seedlings to greenhouses after they form two true leaves.<\/p>\n

The harvest:<\/strong>
\nCucumber harvest season begins about 30-40 days after planting. Cucumbers can be harvested every day or two. This depends on the size of the fruits.
\nPests and Diseases of Cucumber
\nCucumbers are susceptible to many pests and diseases, and the most important:
\nCucumber pests: Insects such as aphids, white butterfly, thrips, and the white fly, snails and slugs.
\nCucumber diseases: These include fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, rust, bacterial diseases such as bacterial blight, viral diseases such as mosaic virus.
